Project Overview

We were approached to design and install a 25-square-meter block paving driveway for a client with a unique challenge: a steep incline on their property. This required careful planning and precise execution to ensure both the stability and functionality of the driveway. The project also included ACO channel drainage to manage water runoff effectively. Despite the complexities of the gradient, we completed the project in just two days, delivering a high-quality result that met the client’s needs.

Scope of Work

The steep rise of the driveway presented an added level of difficulty, but our team worked meticulously to ensure that every step of the installation process was carried out with precision:

  1. Excavation: We began by excavating the existing surface, making sure to account for the gradient of the steep driveway. Careful attention was paid to ensure proper leveling and drainage later in the process.
  2. Weed Membrane: A weed membrane was laid to prevent unwanted growth beneath the paving and ensure a long-lasting finish.
  3. Type 1 MOT Base: The steep incline required a particularly strong and compact base to maintain the integrity of the driveway. We installed and compacted a Type 1 MOT base with extra care, ensuring durability over time.
  4. Sand and Cement Bedding: A sand and cement bedding was applied, ensuring an even surface for the block paving, while accounting for the natural slope.
  5. ACO Channel Drain Installation: Proper drainage is critical on steep surfaces to prevent water pooling or erosion. We installed ACO channel drains at strategic points along the driveway to ensure efficient water management.
  6. Block Paving Installation: The block paving installation was slightly more challenging due to the incline, but we used precise measurements and advanced techniques to ensure a smooth, even surface that could withstand the slope. The client selected block and border colours to complement their home.
  7. Path Edging: We installed path edging to provide a clean separation between the driveway and surrounding landscape, adding both structure and aesthetic appeal.
  8. Waste Removal: As always, we ensured the area was left spotless by removing all waste materials from the site.

Result

Despite the challenge of working with a steep incline, our team successfully delivered a durable and visually appealing block paving driveway. The ACO drainage system ensured proper water flow, and the client was pleased with the smooth finish and robust construction. The project was completed within two days.
