Project Overview

This project in Slough involved completing a 35-square-meter block paving job that had been left unfinished by another contractor. The client was understandably frustrated with the previous firm’s work and reached out to us to complete the driveway and bring their vision to life. Our team stepped in to assess the situation, and within a short time, we were able to finish the project to the client’s satisfaction.

Scope of Work

Upon taking over the project, we ensured a seamless process to complete the job quickly and efficiently:

1. Assessment and Site Preparation: We began by evaluating the condition of the existing work, identifying areas that needed adjustment or rework to ensure the highest standard of quality. This included re-levelling certain sections and ensuring the foundation was solid.
2. Weed Membrane Installation: After resolving the previous issues, we installed a weed membrane across the entire area to prevent future weed growth, ensuring a durable and long-lasting surface.
3. Base Layer Adjustment: We inspected the Type 1 MOT base laid by the previous contractor and compacted it further where needed. We then applied additional sharp sand and cement to level out any uneven areas.
4. Block Paving Installation: We carefully completed the block paving installation, ensuring that the blocks were laid evenly and with the correct spacing. The client’s chosen block and border colours were used to match the original design while giving the driveway a professional, polished look.
5. Path Edging: To provide a clean and defined boundary, we installed path edging to separate the driveway from the surrounding areas, adding to the overall aesthetics.
6. Waste Removal: As always, we took care of all waste and leftover materials, ensuring that the site was left spotless and ready for the client to enjoy.

Result

Despite the challenges posed by the unfinished work, we completed the 35m² driveway to the client’s expectations, leaving them much happier than when they first approached us.
